Big 8 History

Prior to 1963, Carl Junction was in a member of the Spring Valley Conference.

  

Carl Junction joined the Big 10 Conference in 1963, with fellow member schools Aurora, Carthage, Cassville, Lamar, Monett, Mt. Vernon, Neosho, Nevada and Webb City.

  

The Conference became known as the Big 13 when East Newton, McDonald County and Seneca joined.

 

Carthage, McDonald County, Neosho, Nevada and Webb City left the conference to form the Southwest Conference in 1982. 

 

From 1982 to present, the league has been known as the Big 8 Conference, with current members Aurora, Carl Junction, Cassville, East Newton, Lamar, Monett, Mt. Vernon and Seneca.

State of Missouri Bowl History
Missouri had invitation-type "Bowl" games from 1935-1953. The State banned Bowl games after the 1951 season, but Mexico hosted their game for two more years, dropping the Fire-Clay title but still calling it a Bowl game.
