Bulldogs to play for third

On Friday, Webb City picked up where they left off Thursday, defeating Carl Junction 14-4 in a game suspended because of snow with the Cardinals leading 7-2.  The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 5-2 and moves them into today's third-place contest starting at Noon at Carl Lewton Stadium in Carthage.

The Bulldogs will face Big 8 rival Seneca, 15-11 losers to Carthage in Friday's other semi-final.

Paul Richard took the loss for the Bulldogs.  When play resumed in the 4th inning Friday, sophomore Jake Hale took the mound for the Bulldogs.  Nathan Thomas relieved in the 6th inning to finish the game.

Scott Thompson had the only extra base hit for Carl Junction, picking up a double.  The Bulldogs managed only four hits against Cardinals starter Chance Sossamon and reliever David Ebbs.

With the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the second, the Bulldogs had runners on second and third with two outs before Evan Clemons' line drive to right was ran down by Webb City.  A five-run Cardinals third inning broke the game open before snow in the fourth inning caused the suspension.
